Iowa Park man arrested after Sunday standoff
An Iowa Park man identified as James Michael King, and wanted on a Wichita County warrant, held police at bay Sunday for nearly an hour before surrendering.
Iowa Park Chief of Police Steve Davis said three officers, with the assistance of Wichita County deputies, were summoned around 2:30 p.m. Sunday to King’s house in the 400 block of East Pecan where a metal fence surrounds the house.
Officers overheard King talking on the phone inside a metal structure and banged on the building urging him to come outside. King told law enforcement that he was not coming out and held officers in a stand-off before he yielded to police.
King was arrested by sheriff deputies and transported to the county jail. He was charged with violating probation on an original charge. On-line records indicated that he was booked for Possession. His bond was set at $7,500. King was reported to have criminal charges dating back to 1985.
