Public Health District plans diabetes awareness walk
The Wichita County Public Health District hopes to recognize those with diabetes by holding a walk to raise awareness of the challenges diabetic people face and promote healthier lifestyles.
The walk is scheduled for Thursday, November 14, at Sikes Lake at 2 Eureka Circle beginning at 5 p.m. Everyone is invited, and there is no sign-up necessary to participate.
Organizers ask participants to wear something blue im honor and support people with diabetes during Diabetes Awareness Month.
There are more than 11,000 people in Wichita County living with diabetes, and about 24% of them face health risks due to physical inactivity. This walk serves to inspire the community to get up, get active, and strive toward better health for ourselves and our neighbors.
