Work on courthouse annex is ‘going well’

The Wichita County Commissioners Court meet in regular session on Tuesday, January 14 and approved one construction item, and tabled two others related to the Wichita County—Iowa Park Annex project.
The commission unanimously approved extending the perimeter wall around the bathrooms in the corridor to the deck, double sheetrock all walls, and fireproof all wall penetrations at an additional cost of $9,900.
Commissioner Mark Beauchamp said that during renovation work, they discovered a firewall needed to be extended to meet the fire code.
County Judge Jim Johnson asked how far of an extension would be needed.
“It’s pretty significant,” Beauchamp said, saying maybe 40 feet.
