Chances of rain coming late weekend, cold next week?

The National Weather Service reports: “By this weekend our increasing southerly flow will start tapping into gulf moisture and sharpening a dryline across western Texas up through the Southern High Plains.  This will be our next weather system for Sunday into Monday with strong gulf moisture transport fueling this system. Rain POPs are in the forecast beginning Sunday although Monday could be the most impactful day with the upper low over the Southern High Plains. Our area could see heavy rainfall Monday due to increasing PW values in excess of 1.5 inches.

“Our area could see substantially colder air behind this system as next week progresses as it starts tapping into Canadian-based air. The latest CPC 8-14 day outlook for the latter half of next week has our area in a 50-70 percent likely for below normal temperatures.”
