Local truck driver involved in Oklahoma crash

One person is dead after a crash Sunday afternoon in the rain in Oklahoma according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

OHP said at around 2:40 p.m., a vehicle traveling eastbound on the Turner Turnpike began to hydroplane approximately 3 miles west of Kellyville.

After hydroplaning, OHP said the vehicle struck a second vehicle, a semitruck driven by 53-year-old William Dickey of Iowa Park.

OHP said the first vehicle then departed the roadway to the left before striking a concrete barrier. Both vehicles then caught fire.

Dickey was uninjured in the crash, however, OHP said the driver of the other vehicle, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead on scene by the Kellyville Fire Department.

Fatality collision occurred on 11-03-2024 at approximately 1442 hours on the Turner Turnpike eastbound approximately 600 feet west of mile marker 208.5 approximately 3 miles west of Kellyville, OK in Creek County.

Vehicle-1: 2014 Jeep Cherokee driven by Name Withheld, Pending Next of Kin. Pronounced deceased on scene by Kellyville fire department.

Vehicle-2: 2022 Freightliner driven by William Dickey (SIC) white male, age 53, of Wichita County, TX. Not injured.

What happened: Vehicle-1 and Vehicle-2 were travelling eastbound on the Turner Turnpike. Vehicle-1 hydroplaned striking Vehicle-2. Vehicle-1 then departed the roadway to the left striking the concrete barrier. Vehicle-1 and Vehicle-2 then caught fire.
